Gerdes Endorsed by St. Petersburg Assocation of Firefighters, Local 747
The St. Petersburg Association of Firefighters, Local 747, has endorsed Charlie Gerdes in the District 1 race for St. Petersburg City Council, the campaign announced today.
“We believe Charlie will support the issues most important to firefighters. We are happy to lend any help we can to get him elected,” Union President Will Newton said.
The Firefighters, Local 747 nod adds to a mounting list of endorsements, including The St. Petersburg Times Editorial Board, St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce PAC, West Central Florida Federation of Labor, Pinellas Realtors Organization, Florida State House Representative Rick Kriseman, and current St. Petersburg City Councilperson Karl Nurse.
“I’m honored to be endorsed by these hardworking people who put their lives on the line every day to keep St. Petersburg safe,” Gerdes said.
After taking 52% of the vote in the three-way, district-only primary on August 30, Gerdes faces off against his opponent in the November 8 general election.
